The successful candidate will:

• Teach Home Economics courses, including foods and sewing, to students in grades 7 through 12.
• Develop and implement creative, hands-on lessons aligned with provincial curriculum outcomes.
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment, encouraging student engagement and practical skill development.
• Manage classroom safety, especially in lab settings such as kitchens and sewing rooms.
• Display flexibility and a deep commitment to collaboration, working closely with our team, students, parents, and the community to build harmonious relationships.
• Demonstrate the ability to differentiate and scaffold learning, catering to diverse learner abilities and ensuring all students can thrive.

Additional desirable skills and experiences include:

• Proven knowledge and experience working with First Nations, Metis, and Inuit learners.
• Proficiency in assessment for learning strategies to track and improve student progress.
• An understanding of trauma-informed practice and experience working with students who have encountered trauma.

Qualifications and Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

• A strong understanding of and the ability to demonstrate the Alberta Education Teaching Quality Standard.
• A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.
• Willingness to provide a current vulnerable sector check before employment begins.
