Administrative Procedure 429: STUDENT TEACHING
Background
Full cooperation with teacher training institutions who wish to provide student teaching experiences for their students is encouraged.
Procedures
- Certificated teachers are encouraged to function as Faculty Consultants or Cooperating Teachers in teacher training programs.
- Teachers will only be considered as PSIII mentor if a principal-approved professional growth and mentorship plan is submitted with the application, to the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources.
- Teachers will only be considered as PSIII mentor if a principal-approved professional growth and mentorship plan is submitted with the application, to the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources.
- Honoraria for Faculty Consultants and Cooperating Teachers shall be the responsibility of the teacher training institution. Division staff are entitled to accept and retain such honoraria.
- Days in lieu provided by the post secondary institution shall not be added to the “discretionary day” entitlement under the collective agreement.
- Days in lieu provided by the post secondary institution shall not be added to the “discretionary day” entitlement under the collective agreement.
- The Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources will coordinate requests from teacher training institutions for the placement of student teachers.
- Placements of student teachers shall be made by the Principal in consultation with the Cooperating Teacher(s).
