Administrative Procedure 300: AGE OF ADMISSION
Background
The Division recognizes the importance of encouraging individual abilities and therefore provides for students to be admitted to school in a manner and at an age that best meets their individual needs.
Procedures
- The Division shall permit any student who is six (6) years of age by December 31 of the year they wish to enter grade one (1), to be registered as a student.
- Any student entering Early Childhood Services must be five (5) years of age by December 31 of the year of entry.
- While the Division believes a September 1 admission date better addresses the student’s educational needs and developmental maturity, parents may choose what they feel best meets the needs of the child.
