The position is 30 hours/week and will commence as soon as possible.

Introduction:
Westwind School Division is seeking a caring and talented Educational Assistant (EA) to become part of our committed team at Spring Glen Jr High School.  EA’s play an essential role in student learning, often working closely with some of our students who need more specialized attention.

EA’s are key members of the school team, and they work in different places within the school, such as regular classrooms, special classes, and other unique spaces. Their job is all about helping students who have various needs, including those related to thinking and behaviour, emotions and relationships, and physical abilities. Being an EA means being flexible and willing to adapt. What they do might change from one year to the next or even during a single school year.

Under the direction of the principal and the teacher, the successful candidate will:

  • Understand and have the ability to support students in the Band program
  • Collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Provide assistance in classrooms or with small groups as needed.
  • Relate well to students aged 11-15.
  • Communicate skillfully, show patience, and collaborate harmoniously.
  • Have experience with and/ be willing to learn and understand First Nations culture.
  • Support school and division FNMI initiatives
  • Contribute willingly to extracurricular activities when required.

Qualifications and Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

  • Willingness to provide a current vulnerable sector check before employment begins.
  • An Educational Assistant certificate or diploma is an asset 
  • A current first aid certification is a bonus but is not mandatory.
