The successful candidate will:
- Be prepared to teach effectively in Grades 6 - 8.
- Have strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a conducive and engaging learning environment.
- Display flexibility and a deep commitment to collaboration, working closely with our team, students, parents, and the community to build harmonious relationships.
- Possess a solid understanding of research-backed literacy and numeracy practices, ensuring our students are exposed to the best learning methods.
- Understand long-term planning, unit planning and daily planning and incorporate a variety of assessment practices into the planning process
- Comprehend and apply the Collaborative Response Model, an approach to ensure every student's unique needs are met.
- Demonstrate the ability to differentiate and scaffold learning, catering to diverse learner abilities and ensuring all students can thrive.
Additional desirable skills and experiences include:
- Proven knowledge and experience working with First Nations, Metis, and Inuit learners.
- Proficiency in assessment for learning strategies to track and improve student progress.
- Strong knowledge and practice of literacy instruction, assessment, and intervention techniques.
- An understanding of trauma-informed practice and experience working with students who have encountered trauma.
Qualifications and Requirements:
To be considered for this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- A strong understanding of and the ability to demonstrate the Alberta Education Teaching Quality Standard.
- A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.
- Willingness to provide a current vulnerable sector check before employment begins.
