About Me

Born in Calgary, graduated from Harry Ainlay HS in Edmonton I then spent 2 years in southern Japan and Okinawa before graduating with a BEd from the University of Alberta.  Several years later I completed a Masters degree in Educational Leadership through the University of Alberta and am all but dissertation in my work on a Doctorate through the University of Phoenix.

I have been married since about 7 weeks after returning from Japan to Chauna (Pack) who's family history has deep roots in Magrath (Levi Harker is her great great grandfather) and Raymond (Lambert Pack was her Great Grandfather)  and her parents (Murray and Lavonne Pack)  lived for more than 15 years in the Cardston area.  We have 6 children, four married, one of whom teaches in Raymond (Brent) and his wife (Julie) teaches in Magrath. one single daughter working in Vancouver and our youngest (Shayne) is currently spending 2 years in Tahiti.

I have worked for 28 years in the Grande Prairie area, 8 years as principal of Grande Prairie Composite High School, and my first year with Westwind was the 2013-14 school year where I currently work as the Assistant Superintendent.  I have taught grades 8 - 12 in my career with the majority of my teaching assignment in Social Studies and English with work in CALM, Computers, and the International Baccalaureate (IB) program teaching the Theory of Knowledge course. 

I have had the opportunity to coach over 50 football teams in my life, the majority at the high school level, with teams ranging from pee-wee to provincial all star teams with provincial and national championships.  I have also coached volleyball and basketball and enjoy playing most sports, with golf, running, and a little bit of cycling the current mainstays in my own playing.
